the white of the shells (and the ever so slightly singed edges) work really well along with the white composition of the photo. The little color there is pulls the eye just were it needs to go.

This is lovely. The blackened rims of the eggshells draw the eye amid all the white, and the creme brulee looks delicious. How did you set up the eggs for serving it in?

Basically just cracked the top open as best I could and chipped away to make it a little more even, sterilized the shells (boiling, letting them dry for a day or so), and then just poured in the creme brulee.
